Wine from the Languedoc region as featured in Sepulchre

Sepulchre book with bottles of wine

1891. Seventeen-year-old Léonie Vernier and her brother abandon Paris for the sanctuary of their aunt's isolated country house near Carcassonne, the Domaine de la Cade. But in the nearby woods, Léonie stumbles across a ruined sepulchre – and a timeless mystery whose traces are written in blood.

2007. Meredith Martin arrives at the Domaine de la Cade as part of her research for a biography she's writing. But Meredith is also seeking the key to her own complex legacy, and soon becomes immersed in the story of a tragic love, a missing girl, a unique deck of tarot cards, an unquiet soul and the strange events of one cataclysmic night more than a century ago...

In the novel Meredith, the central character, orders Domaine Begude on two occasions:

pp171-2
Meredith turned the card over, and read the wines by the glass on the reverse, then put the menu down.
‘Quelque chose de la region?’ she suggested. ‘Qu’est-ce que vous recommandez?’
‘Blanc, rouge, rosé?’
‘Blanc.’
‘Try the Domaine Begude Chardonnay,’ said another voice.
Surprised by both the English accent and the fact that someone was talking to her at all, Meredith turned to see a guy sitting a couple of stools further down the bar. A smart, well-cut jacket was draped over the two seats between them and his crisp white shirt, open at the neck, black pants and shoes seems at odd with his utterly defeated air. A mop of thick black hair hung over his face.
‘Local vineyard. Cépie, just north of Limoux. Good stuff.’

Acutely aware of Hal watching her, Meredith took a sip. Light, lemony, clean, it was reminiscent of the white wine Mary and Bill served on special occasions or when she cam home weekends.
‘It’s great. Good call.’

‘What can I get you?’
‘The wine you recommended last night was pretty good.’
Hal ordered. ‘Une bouteille du Domaine Begude, s’il vous plaît, Georges. Et trois verres.’
