They will be ‘on safari’ in various Waterstone's bookshops around the UK over the summer, and Lauren will appearing at numerous events and festivals.

An Equal Stillness wins Orange Prize for New Writers
We are delighted to announce that Francesca Kay has won the Orange Award for New Writers 2009 with her novel, An Equal Stillness. The prize is awarded to first works of fiction written in English by a woman of any age or nationality, and published as a book in the UK.

Theakston’s Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year Shortlist
Exit Music by Ian Rankin and Savage Moon by Chris Simms have been shortlisted for the 2009 Theakston’s Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year Award. The winner will be announced at the Harrogate Crime Festival in July.

Doors Open wins a Sounds of Crime Award
The abridged edition of Ian Rankin's Doors Open, read by James Macpherson on Orion Audiobooks, is the joint winner of the Sounds of Crime Award for Best Abridged Crime Audiobook of 2009.

Aravind Adiga's next novel to be published by Orion Audio
This summer, Orion Audio will publish Between the Assassinations, the eagerly anticipated next novel by Aravind Adiga, who in 2008 won the Man Booker Award with The White Tiger.
The audio CD of Between the Assassinations will be available in July 2009. The White Tiger is available on audio CD now, read brilliantly by Kerry Shale.

Michael Palin wins Lifetime Achievement Award
Michael Palin, dubbed a ‘renaissance man’ by hosts Richard & Judy, was honoured at this year's Galaxy British Book Awards with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award.
Michael has written bestselling books to accompany his seven very successful travel series, Around the World in 80 Days, Pole to Pole, Full Circle, Hemingway Adventure, Sahara, Himalaya and New Europe. He is also the author of a number of children’s stories, the play The Weekend and the novel Hemingway’s Chair.
In 2006 the first volume of his acclaimed diaries, 1969 – 1979: The Python Years, spent many weeks on the bestseller lists. The second volume of diaries, Halfway to Hollywood: Diaries 1980-1987, is published by Weidenfeld & Nicolson in September 2009. A worthy winner of this year's award indeed.
