Biography, autobiography & memoirs have been at the heart of our publishing programme since the early days of W&N. The list is impressive – Harold Wilson, Laurence Olivier, Pope John Paul II, Boris Yeltsin, Dirk Bogarde, John Gielgud and Judi Dench. Recent additions include Leslie Phillips, Terry Wogan, Carol Drinkwater, Helen Mirren, Catherine Deneuve and Dave Pelzer – whose moving memoirs have been bestsellers worldwide. The list of famous diarists is also notable: 'Chips' Channon, Harold Nicolson, Michael Palin and Alan Clark are perhaps the best known, but the diaries of Victor Klemperer, Douglas Haig, Lord Alanbrooke, Cecil Beaton, Duff Cooper and Belle de Jour have also been great successes and, like biographies, memoirs provide fascinating insights into the lives of the great, the good and the not so good.
