Give Blood

Every minute of every day, someone somewhere needs blood. It might be in the case of an accident or emergency, for operations like hip replacements, for mothers and babies during childbirth, for transplants and also to treat patients with cancer and rare blood disorders. With some blood components such as platelets having a shelf life of just a few days, there is a constant need to maintain an adequate blood supply for hospitals up and down the country.

Donating blood is easy – in fact, the actual donation should take less than 10 minutes, with the whole process including refreshments taking under an hour. Afterwards you will feel great, knowing that you have done something very special.

To become a blood donor and book an appointment call the Donor Line now on 0300 123 23 23 or visit www.blood.co.uk. First time donors should be aged between 17-65, weigh at least 50 kg (7 stone 12lbs) and in general good health. If you've donated before, you can start again up to your 70th birthday.
