NEWS: Ian Rankin Awarded the Audible Sounds of Crime Award

Ian Rankin was awarded the Audible Sounds of Crime Award at the CrimeFest Awards Gala Dinner on Saturday. The award, given to the best crime audiobook published in both print and audio in 2012, was made for the audiobook of Standing In Another Man's Grave (Orion Audio), read by James MacPherson who shares the prize with Rankin.

BOOKS ARE MY BAG is a nationwide campaign to celebrate bookshops. This collaboration between publishers, bookshops and authors and is the biggest ever promotion of its kind. For many people bookshops conjure fond images of book readings, in-store cafes and delight at the discovery of a new author. In fact, 56% of all book buying decisions are made by consumers in a bookshop and high street bookshops still account for almost 40% of books bought by consumers. Yet, many high street bookshops are under threat.

Weidenfeld & Nicolson is delighted to announce that it has secured publishing rights to Vikram Seth’s A Suitable Girl, the sequel to his award-winning, critically acclaimed bestseller, A Suitable Boy, which was published in 1993, and has since sold over a million copies around the world in twenty languages. In addition, the company has reacquired the rights to A Suitable Boy which Weidenfeld & Nicolson is proud to be republishing this year, the book’s twentieth anniversary. In addition, the novel will be published in electronic form for the first time.
