Orion Acquires Lets Bake from Cathryn Dresser of The Great British Bake Off

NEWS: Orion Children’s Books are delighted to announce the acquisition of LET’S BAKE

An exciting new project from THE GREAT BRITISH BAKE OFF 2012 contestant, CATHRYN DRESSER

World rights were secured by Orion Children’s Books Commissioning Editor, Jenny Glencross, from Stuart Cooper at Metrostar Media.

LET’S BAKE is a baking book for children and parents to share. It’s about having fun in the kitchen; it will centre around a seasonal theme, with occasion-based recipes, whether it be lunchbox treats, rainy-day baking, Pancake Day, or baking just because, and much more.

LET’S BAKE is about togetherness, about being child-friendly (and novice-baker-friendly too!) as well as being creative, and inspiring children and parents to try new food and activities.

LET’S BAKE will publish in May 2014 as a full-colour photographic hardback, priced at £12.99.

Jenny Glencross says of the acquisition:
“I’m thrilled to welcome Cathryn to the Orion Children’s list – the moment I saw her on Bake-Off, I knew she was the perfect person to write this book. Her warmth, enthusiasm and all-round baking knowledge are fantastic – combine that with the fact she’s a busy mum of two, I couldn’t think of anyone more qualified to write a fun, accessible baking book for parents and children to share.”

Cathryn Dresser says of the deal:
“I truly love baking at home, and one of my favourite things in the world is getting in the kitchen with my two awesome tiddlers and getting stuck into it together.  This is why I am so unbelievably excited about this book and the idea of how it will be used. I think that baking with children is about much more than simply making something good to eat. I hope this book will encourage grown-ups and children to get together, have fun, find something to do on a rainy day, bake gifts for friends, try new flavours and ingredients, learn about healthy eating and seasonality, and store up millions of happy memories for the future.”
