Brian W. Aldiss (1925 - 2017)Brian Wilson Aldiss was born in 1925. He was a highly decorated science fiction author who achieved the rare feat of acceptance as a writer of real significance by the literary establishment in his lifetime. As well as his many award-winning novels he has been a hugely important anthologist and editor in the field. He also wrote the pre-eminent history of the genre (with David Wingrove), Billion Year Spree (later expanded and revised as Trillion Year Spree). He died in 2017 the day after his 92nd birthday.
Ray Aldridge was born in 1948. He has published a three-volume series, The Emancipator, featuring ex-slave investigator Ruiz Aw. The volume titles are The Pharaoh Contract, The Emperor of Everything and The Orpheus Machine. Short stories by Aldridge appeared in Full Spectrum 4 (1993) and The Best from Fantasy and Science Fiction: A 40th Anniversary Anthology. Among his shorter works are Steel Dogs (1989), Gate of Faces (1991), a Nebula Best Novelette nominee (1992) and The Beauty Addict (1993), a Nebula Best Novella nominee (1994).
Karen Kruse Anderson is the widow and sometime co-author of Poul Anderson, and mother-in-law of writer Greg Bear.
She wrote the first published science fiction haiku (or scifaiku), "Six Haiku" in The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction, in July 1962, and is one of the founders of the Society for Creative Anachronism. She has been invested as a member of the Baker Street Irregulars, and is active both in Sherlockian groups and in the Los Angeles Science-Fantasy Society.
Piers Anthony has written dozens of bestselling science fiction and fantasy novels. Perhaps best-known for his long-running MAGIC OF XANTH series, many of which appeared on the New York Times Bestseller List, he has also had great success with THE INCARNATIONS OF IMMORTALITY series and the CLUSTER series as well as BIO OF A SPACE TYRANT and others.

A. A. Attanasio (1951 - )Alfred Angelo Attanasio was born in New Jersey in 1951, and published his first story, 'Beowulf and the Supernatural' in 1971. In addition to an MFA in creative writing, he holds a BA in biochemistry and an MA in linguistics. The author of many novels, he is best known for his Radix Tetrad, the first of which - Radix - was nominated for the Nebula Award. He lives in Honolulu, and writes most of his fiction inside a volcano: Koko Crater, a botanical garden near his home.
