Anna Reid was born in 1965. She read law at Magdalen College, Oxford, and took a master's degree in Russian history and reform economics from London University's School of Slavonic and East European Studies. She lived in Ukraine from 1993 to 1995 where she was the Kiev correspondent for the ECONOMIST and the DAILY TELEGRAPH. She has also written for the FINANCIAL TIMES and SPECTATOR.

He was educated at Ashdown House and Eton, and lives in Edinburgh with his wife and two children.

His recent book NAPOLEON THE GREAT won the Grand Prix of the Fondation Napoléon. Roberts is a Fellow of the Royal Societies of Literature and Arts. He appears regularly on British television and radio and writes for a number of national newspapers.
General Sir Michael Rose KCB CBE DSO QGM was commissioned into the Coldstream Guards in 1964 and served with the SAS in Malaya and Oman. He commanded the 22nd SAS Regiment (1979-82) during the London Iranian Embassy siege and the Falkland Islands War. From January 1994 to January 1995 he assumed command of the UN Protection Force in Bosnia after which he became Adjutant General and a member of the Army Board. Now retired from the Army, he writes and lectures on peace-keeping and leadership.
