Daniel Barenboim

Daniel Barenboim was born in Buenos Aires in 1942, educated in Rome and made his piano debut at the age of eight and as a solo pianist at the age of eleven with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. His musical tours have taken him all over the world and he has made regular appearances at the Bayreuth, Edinburgh, Lucerne, Prague and Salzburg festivals. In 1967 he married the cellist Jacqueline du Pré (who died in 1987). In 1988 he married Elena Bashkirova. He was musical director of the Paris Orchestra 1975-88, and he has been Music Director of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra since 1991 and of the Berlin State Opera since 1992.

Tony Blackburn made his first radio appearance on 28th July 1964 on Radio Caroline South. When BBC Radio One commenced broadcasting on 30th September 1967, Tony presented the daily Breakfast Show, and was the first disc jockey on the new network. He hosted the Breakfast Show until 1974 when he took over the Morning Show for several years. Until recently Tony presented the breakfast show for The Classic Gold Network, which transmits across 18 stations. Tony is a legend of the airwaves and has become a household name through his DJ-ing, TV Shows, and he inspired the cult of the radio DJ. He is well remembered for presenting BBC¿s world famous ¿Top Of The Pops¿ from the late 1960¿s to throughout the 1970¿s. He continues to make regular guest appearances on a wide range of television shows, such as ¿I¿m a Celebrity ... Get me Out of Here!¿ in 2002 which was a huge success - he was crowned King of the Jungle!
