Patricia Fanthorpe (1938- )Patricia Fanthorpe was born in Beetley, Norfolk, in 1938, and married Lionel in 1957. They have two daughters, Stephanie Dawn (1964) and Fiona Mary (1966). Her own favourite writer is Edgar Rice Burroughs. Her first literary ventures were the co-authorship of various textbooks on metrication, office management, and a payroll guide.
Robert Lionel Fanthorpe (1935- ) Lionel Fanthorpe was born in Dereham, Norfolk, in 1935. He sold his first story in 1952 and has since written nearly 200 novels and collections of shorts under a variety of pseudonyms. He has worked as a dental technician, factory machinist, farmworker and lorry driver. He has also been a journalist, a lecturer for Cambridge University Board of Extra-Mural Studies and an Industrial Training Manager. He trained as a teacher at Keswick College of Education and took an Open University degree. His main hobbies are Power Lifting and Judo at which he has a Brown Belt awarded by Brian Jacks.

Born in 1911 the American author Jack Finney wrote numerous SF novels, thrillers and mysteries, several of which were adapted to film. He is best known as the author of The Body Snatchers, which became the hugely popular and influential film, The Invasion of the Bodysnatchers. He was awarded the World Fantasy Award for Lifetime Achievement in 1987. A long time resident of Californa he died in 1995.
Constantine Fitzbibbon (1919-1983) Constantine Fitzgibbon, full name Robert Louis Constantine Lee-Dillon Fitzgibbon, was born in the US in 1919 and was a historian and novelist. His parents divorced when he was very young and he was raised and educated in France before moving to England. Fitzgibbon served in the British Army from 1939 to 1942, before transferring to the United States Army as a staff officer in military intelligence from 1942 to 1946. After that, he spent a short time working as a schoolmaster in Bermuda, whilst also working as an independent writer. It was here he wrote his first two novels.
Alan Dean Foster
Alan Dean Foster (1946 - )Born in New York City in 1946, Foster was raised in Los Angeles. After receiving Bachelors and Master's degrees at UCLA, he spent two years as a copywriter for a small Studio City, California PR firm. His writing career began in 1968 when August Derleth bought a long Lovecraftian letter of Foster's in 1968 and published it as a short story. More sales of short fiction followed. His first attempt at a novel, The Tar-Aiym Krang, was published by Ballantine Books in 1972. Since then, Foster's sometimes humorous, occasionally poignant, but always entertaining short fiction has appeared in all major science fiction magazines and anthologies and several "Best of the Year" compendiums. Five collections of his short work have been published. Foster's work to date includes excursions into hard science-fiction, fantasy, horror, detective, western, historical, and contemporary fiction. He has also written numerous non-fiction articles on film, science, and scuba diving. He has also novelized Star Wars movies as well as such well-known films as Alien and its two sequels. Other works include scripts for talking records, radio, computer games, and the story for the first Star Trek movie. His work has won numerous awards. He and his wife, Jo Ann Oxley, have traveled extensively throughout Europe, Asia, and Africa. His other pastimes include music, basketball, hiking, body surfing, scuba diving, collecting animation on video, karate and weightlifting.

Karen Joy Fowler is the author of four earlier novels and two short story collections. Her debut novel, Sarah Canary, was a New York Times Notable Book, as was her second novel, The Sweetheart Season. Fowler's short story collection Black Glass won the World Fantasy Award in 1999. Fowler and her husband, who have two grown children, live in Davis and Santa Cruz, California.

Eric Frank Russell (1905-1978) was the first British writer to contribute regularly to Astounding Science Fiction, his first story, 'The Saga of Pelican West', appearing in that magazine in 1937. His novels include Sinister Barrier, Wasp and The Great Explosion and his short fiction has appeared in a number of collections.

Maggie Furey was one of the original WHS Fresh Talent authors and has gone on to be very successful in the UK and USA. She is also widely translated. She underwent extensive heart surgery years ago and has since made a full recovery. Brought up in County Durham, she now lives in Ireland near Limerick.
