Ron Klinger
Authors:
Ron Klinger

Having doubled the opponents, you now have to find the best way of enforcing your call. Are the odds so close that defeating the contract is the over-riding priority? But if the opponents' intention were to deprive you of a certain game you should be looking to inflict severe penalties. These are the sort of questions that will face you in this quiz book of bridge problems. The deals have been chosen from major national and international championships. In almost every case you have the chance to do better than the defenders did at the table. As long as you tackle the problems with zeal and determination, your own defence is bound to improve, even if you do not find the best answer every time.

Opening Leads Flipper

Mike Lawrence, Ron Klinger
Authors:
Mike Lawrence, Ron Klinger

Based on Mike Lawrence and Ron Klinger's acclaimed book OPENING LEADS FOR ACOL PLAYERS, this Fast Fact Finder provides the general questions you must ask yourself before leading and gives a vast number of expert tips for specific lead situations. The flipper aims to answer queries such as, 'When is it better not to lead partner's suit?' 'When is it best to attack', 'When is a passive lead preferable?' 'When is it reasonable to lead an ace-high suit?' and many others. The opening lead can be the make-or-break point of the contract. If players would spend more time on the opening lead and less in the post mortem, declarers would face a tougher contest. If you are like most players, chances are that no part of your game deserves more work and study than the opening lead. You cannot expect to make the best lead every time but you can certainly boost your average.

The Mistakes You Make At Bridge

Terence Reese, Roger Trezel, Ron Klinger
Authors:
Terence Reese, Roger Trezel, Ron Klinger

Both Terence Reese and Roger Trezel were brilliant players and Reese possessed a legendary skill in imparting a great knowledge of bridge with supreme lucidity. It was not their intention to present a complete museum of horrors, but to concentrate instead on the sort of mistakes that quite experienced players commit all the time.Since the original book appeared 30 years ago, bidding methods and styles have changed considerably but the wisdom in these pages has weathered the years - and has been revised by Ron Klinger, himself an international not only as an author but also as a teacher and player. In particular the bidding style has been brought into the 21st century, but without losing any of the sparkle or clarity of the original work.
