A gripping new thriller from the author of The Poison Artist - selected for BBC Radio 2 Book Club with Simon Mayo

'Do you ever think there's maybe something that's gone wrong with the world?'

A man is found dead in one of the city's luxury homes. Homicide detective Ross Carver arrives at the scene when six FBI agents burst in and forcibly remove him from the premises.

Two days later...

Carver wakes in his bed to find Mia a neighbor he's hardly ever spoken to, reading aloud to him. He has no recollection of the crime scene, no memory of how he got home, and no idea that two days have passed.

Carver knows nothing about this woman but as he struggles to piece together what happened to him, he soon realizes he's involved himself in a web of conspiracy that spans the nation.

And Mia just might know more than she's letting on...

'Moore has a great gift for the macabre and the creepy.' The Times

The Whitstable High Tide Swimming Club

Katie May
Authors:
Katie May

Dive into THE WHITSTABLE HIGH TIDE SWIMMING CLUB - the irresistible, feel-good novel from Katie May. Join Debs and Maisie and the high tide swimmers as they make waves in life, love and friendship. Only the truly devoted manage to swim every day at Whitstable, because the sea's only deep enough at high tide. So when Deb (ageing bikini, sunglasses) and Maisie (black wetsuit, swimming shoes, goggles) keep meeting on Reeves Beach, they strike up an unlikely friendship based on their love of swimming and their recent divorces. They swim early in the morning and late at night; through sea-fogs, rain and glorious sunny days. Soon, they are joined by other high tide swimmers, each with a crisis of their own to weather. Ann, a bossy organiser, is caring for her elderly mother at home; Julie has somehow (although she's not quite sure how) managed to produce three children under school age; and Chloe, a bright, brittle girl of fifteen, finds calmness in the water. Quiet, anxious Bill is initially thought to be a peeping Tom, before being welcomed into the heart of the club. When the swimmers discover plans for their beach to be paved over for a leisure complex, they find a higher purpose that bonds them together, and exposes their fragile worlds to public scrutiny.Originally published as a three-part serial. This is the complete story in one package.THE WHITSTABLE HIGH TIDE SWIMMING CLUB is a book about the power of female friendship, that never loses sight of the complicated truths behind the lives of women who - from the outside - seem to take everything in their stride. It's also a song to the author's home town of Whitstable, where the sea is smooth, the shingle is painful on bare feet, and the air is full of possibilities.

The Witches of New York

Ami McKay
Authors:
Ami McKay

WITCH - nounA woman thought to have evil magic powers; one credited with usually malignant supernatural power; especially: a woman practicing witchcraft with the aid of a devil or familiar. To those who say the world holds no more magic, I respectfully ask, are you certain of this? For this night, within the candlelit walls of a room near Madison Square, three witches are alive and well - one born of cunning, one born of ghosts, one born of wishes yet to be fulfilled. Eleanor St. Clair, Adelaide Thom and Beatrice Dunn have gathered to prepare for an evening among Manhattan's elite. By divination, enchantment, spellcraft and seduction, they'll carry out their work in the drawing room of a grand mansion on Fifth Avenue. Without the aid of a medium's cabinet or false knocks on table or wall, they'll peer into the future and call upon the dead. They have no need for the trappings of Spiritualism. 'Ready or not, it's begun...'Compelling, enchanting and utterly unique, The Witches of New York invites you on a journey ranging from high society Manhattan to the hidden voices of the budding suffragette movement, and on to the web of secrets that connects them all.(p) Orion Publishing Group with Audible UK 2017
