‘Dark, insidious, unsettling, fabulous.’ Sharon Bolton
We thought we were building paradise. We didn’t know we were building it on graves.
The Starlings is everything you could want – luxury homes, ocean views, security gates. The Gold Family transformed a derelict building into Dorset’s most exclusive community. Everyone who lives here is living their dream. Until someone falls from the clock tower during a summer party.
When the police start investigating, residents start remembering what this building used to be. The Highcap Mother and Baby Home, where unmarried girls were sent. Where babies disappeared. Where screams were ignored.
Some histories can’t be buried. Some pasts demand payment. And someone in The Starlings knows exactly what happened here decades ago. Because they never left.
Homecoming by Isabel Ashdown is perfect for fans of Big Little Lies and Little Fires Everywhere.

You're immersed in an imaginary world that still feels very real - right down to the actual Dorset settings sprinkled throughout. The story twists and turns in a way that makes it both enjoyable to read and impossible to guess the ending.
Couldn't stop reading this compelling novel of scandals and affairs at the heart of seemingly idyllic seaside community. Great characters, setting, and a deliciously dark mystery at its heart.
'Neatly plotted and totally engaging - it's another Ashdown triumph.
