Opening Leads Flipper

Mike Lawrence, Ron Klinger
Authors:
Mike Lawrence, Ron Klinger

Based on Mike Lawrence and Ron Klinger's acclaimed book OPENING LEADS FOR ACOL PLAYERS, this Fast Fact Finder provides the general questions you must ask yourself before leading and gives a vast number of expert tips for specific lead situations. The flipper aims to answer queries such as, 'When is it better not to lead partner's suit?' 'When is it best to attack', 'When is a passive lead preferable?' 'When is it reasonable to lead an ace-high suit?' and many others. The opening lead can be the make-or-break point of the contract. If players would spend more time on the opening lead and less in the post mortem, declarers would face a tougher contest. If you are like most players, chances are that no part of your game deserves more work and study than the opening lead. You cannot expect to make the best lead every time but you can certainly boost your average.

As readers found in BEATEN BY THE MASTERS, a host of entertaining characters face each other at the bridge table - the school Matron, the fearsome Headmaster, the ancient Reverend Benson, the much-loved senior maths master, Bertie Bellis, over-bearing school prefects and terrified younger boys. Regular followers of David Bird's work will know what to expect - first-rate mixture of excellent bridge and sparkling dialogue.BRIDGE MAGAZINE wrote of BEATEN BY THE MASTERS: 'Each of David Bird's books features some great bridge, and that tradition carries on here with some good technical points, and a few humorous expeditions into the hinterlands of bridge. Excellent bridge, amusing characters, and some great dialogue make this book a very good choice for a few hours of pleasure.'

Playing To Win At Bridge

Ron Klinger
Authors:

BRIDGE WORLD said of the first edition: 'is as good a quiz book as has ever appeared...Instead of examples of well-known ideas, the author presents truly practical situations...the questions emphasise those aspects of bridge play that are truly important at the table. Our quibbles with the analysis are minor, and we recommend the book as outstanding of its kind.'

Kosher Bridge

David Bird, Ron Klinger
Authors:
David Bird, Ron Klinger

Two famous authors, David Bird of England and Ron Klinger of Australia, have joined forces to present a feast of bridge with a Jewish flavour. The main character, the Rabbi, kindly and considerate and the star performer, has a gentle sense of fun that pervades the book. This is counter-pointed, as one might expect in a book from David Bird, by the uproarious and often caustic exchanges between the Rabbi's companions as some remarkable sequences unfold at the bridge table. The bridge is excellent and the stories, spiced with the inimitable Jewish sense of humour, are a delectable mix of the sweet and the acidulous.
